Chiune and Yukiko pose with their sons, Hiroki, Chiaki, and Haruki, in Königsberg, Germany. A diplomat's life of social activities agreed with the Sugihara family. Chiune was popular with the other consular officers because of his nature and his outstanding language abilities in Russian, English, German and Chinese.
